  1. Dome light stays on after head unit replacement

Thanks for all the info! Something I did when testing seems to have fixed it, which might be the light/rocker switch overlap. It's sort of weird that the dome light goes on/off for so many reasons but it still "remembers" the position of the one switch that you can't really see. Regardless, it...
  2. Dome light stays on after head unit replacement

It turns on when the ignition starts, even if the rocker switch is pushed right/off. It doesn't come on before the engine is started, even with the key turned to the on position. I usually turn it off by cycling the rocker switch. I've tested once to see whether it times out when I lock the...
  3. Dome light stays on after head unit replacement

I did a head unit replacement and now the dome lights come on when I start the engine and stay on until I turn them off, including if I turn the engine off and leave the vehicle. Everything else is working great, including steering wheel controls, backup camera, remote start/lock/unlock via...
  4. 2019-2021 Ranger 4 inch screen to aftermarket head unit radio

I just completed the same install (before I found these instructions!) and it went pretty well. Pretty much everything is working (backup cam, steering wheel controls, Android Auto, even remote start/lock/unlock via Fordpass). The only small quirk I've run into is that occasionally the dome...
  5. Antenna stanchion/base alternatives to shark fin

That's a bummer. I hope the roof is okay. To remove the antenna base you have to pull the headliner and access it from below. I described it more here: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/antenna-shark-fin-removal.9186/post-181608 I have an extended cab, not a crew cab. You may have a...
  6. Antenna/ Shark Fin removal

No I've never used Sirius satellite in my truck. I'm not sure if the replacement antenna I used has it or not. Whatever antenna you use you'll need to make sure that it fits the hole in the ranger roof and the gasket is flush all the way around to prevent water getting in.
  7. Antenna/ Shark Fin removal

It's about 2" from the roof to the top of the Escape antenna. That's probably 1.5" shorter than the top of the shark fin. My FM reception seems fine. Not sure about AM, I don't think there are AM stations to pick up in my area. I don't use satellite so that's not connected. Data does not seem...
  8. Colorado WTS Ford-branded 6' aluminum tonneau cover w/ rack tracks: $900

I can look into it. Do you have a 6' bed?
  9. Colorado WTS Ford-branded 6' aluminum tonneau cover w/ rack tracks: $900

I wish I could keep this, but I've got a camper shell installed and nowhere to store this tonneau cover. It's the Ford-branded Embark model, which is the same as the Retrax Pro XR. I like the design a lot. The aluminum panels roll up into a can near the cab, and you can lock the cover in place...
  10. Antenna stanchion/base alternatives to shark fin

Not sure exactly what you mean, but the whole antenna is significantly shorter than the stock Ranger antenna. I can take some measurements if you need them, but it's about half as tall as the stock version. The Escape antenna doesn't really have a shark fin, it's just a round lump. There's...
  11. Antenna stanchion/base alternatives to shark fin

In case anyone is looking in the future, I got the Escape antenna working for FM radio. Explanation here: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/antenna-shark-fin-removal.9186/post-187128
  12. Antenna/ Shark Fin removal

Not sure if anyone is still planning to do this, but I decided I wanted my FM radio to work so I went back in and connected the Ford Escape antenna to the terminal connectors inthe ranger. This required a bit of hackery with the antenna terminals. The Ford Escape antenna is part #DS7Z18936D...
  13. Antenna/ Shark Fin removal

I did it recently. I replaced the shark fin with a lower profile Ford Escape antenna that wouldn't connect to anything. Dropping the headliner seems model specific. For my XL SuperCab I had to: 1) Remove the rear set backs (both sides) - undo bolt behind child seat anchor below headrest -...
  14. Shorter antenna

I just saw your reply deep in this thread. I pulled the shark fin from my Ranger and replaced it with a Ford Escape antenna that is about two inches lower than the shark fin. It solves my clearance problem and plugged the hole but the antenna connectors were wrong so it's just a plug for now...
  15. Antenna stanchion/base alternatives to shark fin

Yup, I've read them all. Two are about the whip antenna, which comes off by hand. Two are about removing the existing antenna base, which I've already done thanks in part to those threads. One of those threads starts with the same question I have-- what is a low profile replacement for the...
  16. Antenna stanchion/base alternatives to shark fin

Hi guys- I have a camper shell that overhangs the cab a bit and was scraping the shark fin. In order to lower the antenna height I took a chance on replacing it with this antenna stanchion for a Ford Escape. It was a good fit for plugging the hole in the roof, but the connectors were not a...
