  1. EGR DPFE Sensor Assembly Replacement Write-Up (LB5Z-9J433-B)

There is no “through” path between the two pipes, so you don’t want to do that. If air passes through something is broken.
  2. Front wheels don't spin free when jacked up

This statement is technically true but possibly not in the sense that you intended. An open differential will always apply equal torque to both output shafts, regardless of circumstance. “Power” is defined as torque multiplied by angular velocity. When one wheel has no traction it will spin fast...
  3. Front wheels don't spin free when jacked up

My recollection is that the goal/design of an open differential is to apply equal torque to each of the output shafts. It manages to apply equal torque even when the wheels are rotating at different speeds. If one wheel breaks free it will spin faster because of the equal torque on both drive...
  4. Choose your trail with Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT!

UPDATE: 6 months after installing the Road + Trail in stock 18” size and now that we’ve got some warmer weather again I can offer a comparison to the stock tires. Mileage is back up to what I remember from stock, no obvious change in noise good or bad. Worst they’ve seen since install is one big...
  5. EGR DPFE Sensor Assembly Replacement Write-Up (LB5Z-9J433-B)

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your comment, but the rubber hoses engage quite far into those metal barbs, 3/4” or more if memory serves. The clamps are closer to the end of the tube, but it engages past those.
  6. Which WDH and/or Sway Control Bar to get?

My suggestion to anyone considering skipping the WDH because they think they don’t need it is to go weigh your rig on a CAT scale just to be aware of your weights. I took my nearly empty 20’ trailer and nearly empty truck and found that, without the spring bars installed, I was 250 lbs away from...
  7. Which WDH and/or Sway Control Bar to get?

I have nothing to compare it to, but I pull a 20’ camper and use the BlueOx Track Pro. The only time I’ve felt sway, and even had the truck’s sway protection kick in, was the one time I thought I could skip installing the bars on the hitch for a 10min interstate drive. With it used normally I...
  8. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

I finally bought an adapter to use with FORScan: Scanned through the list of PIDs and can’t see any for the DPF/DPFE sensor. Am I doing it wrong or does FORScan not support those PIDs?
  9. What are you guys towing?

Also not an accident investigator, but I do have a background in physics and engineering: My intuition is that when the trailer is being pulled (hitch is in tension) that's what you'd call "stable equilibrium". When you're braking, without trailer brakes or insufficient trailer braking, and the...
  10. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

I did, shortly after that post. First test drive after install seemed better than usual, but since then I've had to admit it's really no better than before either replacement. That plus the bench-test results not showing any clear issue leaves me at a loss for what to do next: Maybe it's an...
  11. New Trailer

I originally shared this on another forum, reposting it here because it may be helpful: A summary of my CAT scale results with a 20’ Airstream Basecamp.
  12. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

I know that the water/moisture damage has been floated as a theory, but I don’t think we have any proof yet of that being the cause, right? So far everyone I’ve seen who has performed the service manual test on the sensors they’ve replaced have found them to pass the test. That leaves a little...
  13. Computer on wheels issue

The CarPlay not reconnecting I would lean towards diagnosing as a pure software bug. The rest of it sounds more likely to me as software behavior secondary to a hardware issue. I say “secondary to” in the sense that a fault in one sensor or subsystem might intentionally cascading to others as a...
  14. Choose your trail with Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT!

I also picked these up a few months back. Curious what PSI you ended up choosing for them. By the book it seems like they should call for the same 30PSI that the door sticker lists, but they felt kind of “soft” at 30. Maybe they’re just stickier but the steering effort at low speed was a lot...
  15. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

Pressure tester tool showed up in the mail today so I hooked up to my original (now replaced) DPFE sensor, powered by 5.0v at the bench. With 9 inHg vacuum on the shorter tube it reads 3.28v, with 9 inHg vacuum on the longer tube it reads 0.29v. When I bleed the vacuum it updates to 1.43v in a...
  16. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

@airline tech I appreciate this info and all the other info you've shared. I haven't had any trouble codes before or after I first noticed the behavior last November. Coolant level full, haven't had any change in that since I bought used a year ago. I don't have a vacuum tester (ordered a cheap...
  17. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

Any suggestions for how to proceed? Bought the assembly with hoses from Levittown, installation went smoothly. Anyone else had one dead-on-arrival? Is there anything I can check to diagnose it as faulty to rule out some other issue?
  18. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

The issue I’m feeling is happening around 30 or 40mph, steady speed, often in 7th gear. Flat ground and I can watch the gear indicator it’s not changing. I also feel the sensation every few seconds and it’ll happen for an extended period of time.
  19. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

Yeah, still having the feeling of hesitation occasionally when driving with very light throttle at constant speed around town. I know the main recommendation is to replace the pressure sensor, but has anyone replaced the valve or actuator that complements the sensor? (In case it’s the same...
  20. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

Apologies if I missed this somewhere in the 42 pages, but has anyone else continued to have symptoms even after replacing the DPFE sensor? If so, what else did you check or end up fixing?
