Need some help with my 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat. Basically, I was driving it one day, and the next day, I tried to get it started, but it wouldn't start. Also, the Dashboard is off (no display) and the Stereo won't come on either. I'm sure there are other issues but that is what I've noticed so far. I did check every fuse under the steering wheel, and under the hood, but all of them are fine. I even checked the relays 3, 4 & 5 and they all are working. I know is not the battery either because it is fully charged or was, but recharged it, and even bought a new one and that was not it. Also, I borrowed an OBDII scanner, a cheap Bosch scanner, but it kept saying "Unable to Link"

At this point, I'm in the process of buying a better OBDII, but I'm thinking that the ECU or one of the modules may not be working... Any ideas?

my first thought is how are the fuses on the positive battery terminal? Make sure to unplug the yellow wire at positive battery terminal and inspect it for damage and make sure it has power when plugged back in

I checked those too, and there was no corrosion. I even used my multimeter to check voltage flow between fuses at the battery, and those worked too!

My Plan for today, is to plug my Ford Procal tuner, and make sure that it connects to the computer... We'll see where that goes, and will report on it

Some other quick checks.

Check the High Current Fuses (Under the BJB) must be removed to get access to them and pull and reseat the DC/DC Convertor connector.

125 Amp = BCM
50 Amp = DC/DC Convertor

The Red / Green Cable = Runs up to the BJB

This area is prone to water intrusion.

There are numerous things that can be the issue, so we need basic T-Shoot first for power checks.

I'll definitely tried that tomorrow!

I just finished recharging the battery and connecting my Ford Procal Tuner and it did not link, in fact it would only say "No ECU Found"

I also removed the starter-relay and tried to jump start it, and it did turn, but it didn't run on its own.

At this point, I'm pretty convinced that the ECU is what's wrong... since it controls various functions of the truck such as the dashboard lighting, the stereo, and of course, the on and off switch....

It might be worthwhile to check fuses F15 and F13 in the BCM (Body Control Module) located under the driver's side dash. F15 feeds the Data Link connector (OBD II connector). F13 feeds the Gateway module that provides communications between many of the modules in the truck. Both of those fuses should have 12 volt power at all times, which you can check with a voltmeter. Report back if there is no voltage supplying those fuses or if one is blown.

I had the exact same thing over the weekend. Keyfob would not unlock or lock truck. Used key to unlock and open door. Truck did not 'come alive' like it usually does with lights and console screen coming on. Opened hood to check wires and such, all looked good. Opened the Ford Pass app to see if it knew where truck was, it did, no errors in app either. Issued a Remote Start from app and 30 seconds later my Ranger started. No issues since. Very strange.

I just had this happen to me while trying to lock the doors after lunch. I didn't hear the power door lock go, so I walked back & discovered the truck was completely dead, no power.

Tried using NOCO jumpbox & it was just making clicking sound, but no start. Then couple minutes later there was humming sound from under the hood & power came back on like nothing ever happened.

UPDATE: After getting back to work from lunch, I tried the Ford App remote start couple times & it started up just fine. No problems since.

Anyone think that maybe Ford sent a signal down the line to update / reset something? Seems curious that several have seen this type of issue recently.
