Transmission upgrade.

Just out of curiosity. I will be doing a complete rebuild starting in the summer. Does anyone have recommendations for rebuilding the Trans? Haven't found a rebuild kit labeled for a ranger but they are for the 10r80. TIA

Raybestos appears to be one of the only ones making clutch packs for the 10R80 and Sonnax has a handful of valvebody upgrades. Those are the two places I would start.

The 10R80 is supposed to be the same trans across all vehicles, but there has been a shot out of a manual that shows the Ranger uses one less clutch in a few areas. Whether or not that can be added back in remains to be seen. Either it can very easily, or you would have to scrounge different carriers for the additional clutches. Not a lot of info out there at this time.

Best to find a 10R80 specialist and pick their brains, although there's not likely to be a bunch of them out there just yet, but they should be growing in number as time passes.

Probably order the updated drum that is failure prone while you are in there. It's probably a ford only part currently.

Transtar industries usually a good bit of parts for Automatic Transmissions including updated parts and fixes. I would check there at least
