so just curious, I have a 21 STX 4x4 with Factory, non FOX shocks, how many miles should I get out of them? My plan was to go to Fox Shocks when I replaced them
You can run the OEM shocks as long as you want or until they break. Items like shocks can last the life of the vehicle.

Not sure what your experience is with driving trucks, but they tend to ride like shit. They're utility vehicles made to haul significant amounts of weight so the unladen suspension can be quite stiff. It softens as you add weight. Try putting a couple hundred pounds in the bed and see how you like the ride. This is true for most utility vehicles.

The Fox shocks also shine when you hit bumps at speed. For any given bump, the standard or FX4 shocks might allow the truck to bounce 3-4 times. With the Fox shocks, you hit the bump, bounce once, then the truck is back to rolling and ready for the next bump. This keeps you in control when hitting multiple bumps in a row.
Here's a video from Icon highlighting the difference:
Their demo is a bit dramatic so you can actually see the difference, but it illustrates the point.
I've noticed the ass end seems to want to bounce around in my Tremor but this could also be a function of needing to lower tire pressure a little more.

The rear axle can be a little jumpy with an empty bed, not unique to the Tremor. If you don't like it, add a few sandbags and see how it feels. High tire pressure can definitely contribute, too.

Yep, 200-300 lbs. in the bed settles everything down.

But there is a minor performance and mpg hit over the long term. I might be a little particular with these things tho. I mod for efficiency. Not because I think its a prius but because I am a bang for the buck kind of guy.

We're talking extremely minor there... probably not enough to notice unless you're specifically looking for it, and looking for it hard.

I’m at close to 50k. I don’t off road, drive the average pot hole, rutted roads most do.
What do I look for as far as the shocks needing replaced or re built?

Stock Tremor

Hoping they hold out another year when I pay the truck off and get rid of it for something else
