Oh that's easy.... just a pinch, or a splash, or just a tad bit, even a skosh more will do.

Besides, Ford engineered it so anything between 4-5 is fine, there is no optimal.

The best part is you wont have to worry about it with new dipstick, it just has the 4-5 with the diamond in between, no fine little marks to lament over, just set the level between the 4-5 and you are good.
Just like the Good Ole Days!

Congratulations on your new venture. I bet this is just the start with all the dipstickless engines out there. No patent infringement with B&M ?

Haven't looked, I doubt B&M could get a patent on a dipstick.

I think there may be several points on this invention that could be protected to keep B & M from copying it if they aren't already covered.

If B&M wants Mikes dipstick, they will just offer him a ton of money. In rereading this I had to laugh but you get the point!!!!

B&M will not spend the time to make these dipsticks accurate. They can't afford to test, check, and modify each one like Fitzmotor is doing. They targeted a mass produced item. Fitz has found the niche market that only a boutique/specialty shop can play and thrive in.

The big boys can't afford to play in this arena as their overhead prices them out of the market. They simply can't compete. So they target the 80% of the market that only requires 20% of the investment capital.

The first 80% of an objective can be accomplished with 20% of the effort. But to get to 100% of the objective requires the last 80% of the effort. In SW Research and Development where I worked we simply called it the 80/20 rule. That rule applies to almost every endeavor in life.

This is a very good business opportunity for Fitzmotor, and I predict he will do very well dancing between the feet of the elephants.

I worked on bringing products and processes to life my entire career and all I am saying it's best to check for IP when there are competitors. Could be as simple as using a hose to allow for dipstick location tolerances. That doesn't matter if your making a couple for buddies but the minute a business is built around it it can bite you big time. I love what he is doing and expect over time he will be building perfect copies in China for pennies on a dollar and just handling paperwork like Dave. We always did simple searches upfront and used IP to protect later. Guess I really see this taking off.

No deposit needed, once I'm done with the first batch and feedback is good, I will order a much larger next batch, at that point it would only be 3-4 weeks until they are available.

amazing work and an extremally well thought-out approach. we are lucky you took over this project.

Looks to me like you click on the yes votes and you see the list and then count how far down the list you are. I'm guessing he will contact the first bunch of people on the list and query whether they are still interested in purchasing and go from there, most likely.

OOps
Edit: You can't go by the list as I found a post where Mike said don't go by the voting list!!!!!!

Mike has stated several times that is not correct. people need to read the entire thread, not just skim it.
