I have both the Ford Performance exhaust and tune on mine. I really like them. I have no experience with either Roush option.

I still think it's technically only if they determine the tune didn't cause the problem. But I think the tune steps in for the first 3yr/36k. But that window between 3yr/36k and 5yr/60k, if they determine it was the tune's fault, they could still deny the warranty claim. But it's way less likely with a Ford accessory catalog part installed by the dealer that they would.
This warranty explanation is correct.

If the tune was installed at time truck is purchased (new) any issue that could be attributed potentially to having it installed would be covered for the first 3yrs/36000mi...after that any issue that arises mechanically that the dealership "could" say was a cause of having the tune present "may" be denied, the existing powertrain warranty will not cover a diagnosis that traces back to being potentially caused by the tune.

Being a branded "Ford Performance" tune is irrelevant and is still treated as a 3rd party accessory.

Its always nice to have a great relationship with a dealership but I don't rely on that being always for every case.

I contacted ROUSH regarding their tune since I already had their cold air intake. I was told that their tune is only advisable if you have their intake and exhaust, and that if you had other mods that you would more likely end up popping codes. Since I already had done several mods, I went with 5 Star Tunes. They take into consideration a wide number of factors in creating your tune. I've been very happy with the improvements I got using their tune, and would recommend it for anyone wanting some serious improvement in the loud pedal.

The one nice option with 5 Star is the ability to return the stock tune into your vehicle if the need arises.

One thing to understand with both tunes alone. Both will lower the PowerTrain Warranty down to 3 years 36,000 miles. Both are Ford Approved. To my understanding these are the ONLY Tunes Approved by Ford.

I should also mention that the Powertrain Warranty still goes off the Original Purchase Date of the vehicle. If you are the second owner this is very important.

With both Tunes you will be required to run Premium Fuel no matter what. That means 91 and up. If you don't like that idea I would recommend Livernoise instead. They will give you multiple tunes including my favorite the Tow Tune which allows you to Tow without changing tunes and still gaining power over stock.

That's my input
This begs the question, I bought a used 21 with Ford certified warranty. Does adding the Ford tune affect that? I think it was 1 year bumper to bumper and 60k 5 year powertrain.

That all depends on the contract with the extended warranty. Read the fine print as they could say any aftermarket tune may void the warranty

Yeah without the context of the extended warranty couldn't say for sure...however ...if you're past the 36000mi mileage I believe it wouldn't matter...the warranty is 3yr/36000mi when installed in truck as new.

Not sure how to understand what you said but the easiest way is it goes off the original purchase date of the first owner. Not when the part was installed.

So the BOV and exhaust will void it... even if installed at ford
