This warranty explanation is correct.I have both the Ford Performance exhaust and tune on mine. I really like them. I have no experience with either Roush option.
I still think it's technically only if they determine the tune didn't cause the problem. But I think the tune steps in for the first 3yr/36k. But that window between 3yr/36k and 5yr/60k, if they determine it was the tune's fault, they could still deny the warranty claim. But it's way less likely with a Ford accessory catalog part installed by the dealer that they would.
If the tune was installed at time truck is purchased (new) any issue that could be attributed potentially to having it installed would be covered for the first 3yrs/36000mi...after that any issue that arises mechanically that the dealership "could" say was a cause of having the tune present "may" be denied, the existing powertrain warranty will not cover a diagnosis that traces back to being potentially caused by the tune.
Being a branded "Ford Performance" tune is irrelevant and is still treated as a 3rd party accessory.
Its always nice to have a great relationship with a dealership but I don't rely on that being always for every case.
