Throttle Body Upgrade?

A little Googling AI suggests that the max CFM of airflow by a 2.3L at 6500 rpm is well with in the range of either a 59mm OEM TB and 65mm would be way over kill. Both TBs can flow well past the ~250 CFM needed (assuming standard temp and air density) using a volumetric efficiency of 85% . With the turbo at 10 lbs. of boost (not sure what OEM max boost is but one of my cars OEM is 13, so I picked 10) a flow of ~395 CFM will be needed. The 2 TB both are capable of flowing over 550 CFM.

Not sure what effect on throttle response is if the 65mm TB is used but flow wise, it is suggested that the intake manifold may becomes the restriction before the TB is.

No expert here but seems like the downpipe may be the better investment.

Ummmmm,,, no. Not interested.
....and I buy damn near anything that would make it more powerful

Just a thought, an exhaust is typically more and you probably see the same gain. This won’t hurt anything and it would make it support future mods. I would do it if I needed a replacement.

Stock in sport mode with over boost allows 20-22psi depending on conditions. A tune and aftermarket diverter valve will push it higher. So a larger TB might make a tiny difference.

I would prefer the exhaust over the throttle body because at least I could hear my modification. ?

My guess is if you were to change everything from the turbo to the TB - that includes charge pipes and intercooler you're going to get more of a change in the way the powerband builds. I thought I read there was a replacement fuel pump out there but not much more? Granted the exhaust and tune will play a part but add up all that $ and what can you expect?

I've got those parts (minus turbo & TB upgrades) with exhaust.

My 1st two 0-60 pulls with my Revolution Automotive tune (@ 9pm 12/26/24 - 2 different acceleration apps)...
. . . and my last 0-60 pull (@ 12am 12/26/24) on the SCT BDX tune.

The Revolution Automotive tune was 0.9 sec faster. I have all the receipts but I've never added it all up ? I don't want to know... ?

I would love to have a Supercharger on my 2.3L...
anything faster because it still handles like a truck, and our 285/75 tires are Not Speed rated, would be scary LOL

Tru... I can get to 90 mph in a hurry but it drives like a truck. I prefer the Audi for long distance high speed runs. I'm content to limit my Ranger to 70-75 mph. It drinks too much to go fast all the time.
