  1. Big gas price jump in ON & QC tonight!!!

Happened in California two weeks ago. Up about 50 cents in a couple days. Knocking on $6/gallon.
  2. Help! On side of highway… trans issues

Modern vehicles should be able to run at that speed effortlessly. Not a bulldozer, but any road vehicle. If you're cursed (as many of us) to use the interstates in California, 80 MPH will get you rear-ended.
  3. Cybertruck

Saw my first in December at the track where it was hauling ... gasoline for its owner's Lemons race car. It was like seeing a UFO. Not pretty, but amazing that it exists at all. Now I've seen five in the last two days, and it's already "jumped the shark". The instant the novelty wears off...
  4. Up Hill Strange Bucking

Yes. That happens with my 2022 sometimes. The latest tranny TSB software tweak helped somewhat.
  5. Anyone think the new 2024 rangers look like mavericks?

My immediate thought was that it smashed through a split-rail fence and a board is stuck in the grille. It's not a good look.
  6. The Replacement is in!

Carplay is new to me, and it's pretty handy for work texts while on the road. My Ranger is a Lariat, so heated seats are nice at times. LED headlights with auto dimming. Better parking sensors on both ends. Mostly it's fancy little gadgets that new cars get, now appearing in trucks. I guess it's...
  7. The Replacement is in!

That was my last truck -- a 2013 Pro-4X with the 6-speed. Although it lacked the electronic comforts of the Ranger, it was a lot more sturdy. I hung 257,000 miles on it, but traded it in when I could see its second clutch replacement on the horizon. It's a wonderful truck, and it was made of...
  8. Finally a Ford TSB to Try and Fix our Transmission Problems (TSB 24-2046)

Update: about 700 miles since the TSB update. Software only. It's noticeably better. Was never horrible, but slammed some hard downshifts while going downhill at neutral throttle. I think it was better right after the TSB than it is now, but I'm not sure. It's definitely smoother on downshifts...
  9. Mountain Bike in Bed with Shell

Yeah, if you've committed to a "bed delete" with a low cover, the hitch is the way to go. But a shell should still be workable for a bike mount in the bed.
  10. Mountain Bike in Bed with Shell

The best setup I've seen for your config is to put axle clamp mounts on a board or bracket across the bed floor near the tailgate (attach it firmly to the tie-down points). Pop the front wheel off, put the bike in tail-first, and clamp the front axle into the mount. Fit will vary based on bike...
  11. I'll keep mine

I'm not a looks-driving person by nature (ask anybody), but part of why I snapped up a lightly used 2022 is that I saw they'd made the 2024 look like the Maverick. Gross. Total design failure to make your higher end products look like your entry level stuff. "I'm getting a Cadillac because they...
  12. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Forskin stuff is on my list of stuff to get to. This "mod" just has you add a little gasket around the button so it can't be pushed. Would take 11 seconds to pop it out and return to factory config.
  13. What did you do to your Ranger today?

This: I'm new to having to carry a remote, and this thing is huge. At least once a week I squat down or lean against something and set off the panic alarm. Never again. Simple little mod. Yay, me!
  14. Finally a Ford TSB to Try and Fix our Transmission Problems (TSB 24-2046)

I swung by the Ford dealer yesterday to see about this TSB as I have intermittent weird shifting. It's a bit reluctant to downshift at low speed going up steep grades, and when coming back down, it can't decide on a gear, then slams hard into a low one. Not every time, but enough to worry about...
  15. 2022 Ranger Lariat FX4 soft suspension

More car-like than an older truck. Not more car-like than a car. That would be weird.
  16. 2022 Ranger Lariat FX4 soft suspension

Good idea. I got the exact same spec Ranger about 7 weeks ago and it struck me as feeling very car-like in its ride and handling on road. At first I thought it was weird, but now I'm used to it and passengers (dogs and people) prefer it to my outgoing Frontier. It drives well and can still haul...
  17. Hickory nuts and a chewed up cabin air filter

Ha ha ha ha!!!! My buddy and I run an animal trapping company and few times a year he sends me a text that says only: "Squirrels are jerks." Nailed it.
  18. Mud terrains on my 2022 Ford Ranger Cooper Discoverer stt pro 275/65R18

I can't do the leveling. It's my work truck and I'm barely able to reach the floor of the bed as it is. I certainly don't need it higher. Looks like my trusty AT3 Coopers are an easy fit, or may go for the Rugged Trek, which I'm not familiar with.
  19. Mud terrains on my 2022 Ford Ranger Cooper Discoverer stt pro 275/65R18

I've had fantastic performance from Cooper tires on my Nissan trucks for years. I look forward to changing to them when these stock tires wear out. Like you, I've got the same damned 18" wheels on my FX4, so I'll see what I can come up with. Cooper has been great to live with.
  20. keypad reset?

When I picked up my used 2022 at a Ford dealership last month, it was missing the door key code. The guy said it can be retrieved (or reset?) with a full scan they can do in their shop. It costs a couple bucks for the minimum shop charge. It might also be written on some computer tucked behind...
