There has been a lot of battery questions and comments on this forum, but I wasn't able to search and find one regarding a battery replacement using a 12V memory saver via the OBD or lighter receptacle (which would require the key switch to stay on during a replacement?). I've done this successfully with other vehicles, but don't know how finicky the Ranger monitoring system is, or if the BMS would require a reset anyway with a new battery. Anyone tried this successfully? Thanks for your comments.

I have the OBD saver plug it , but decided not to use it just to see what if anything would happen if I didn't. I changed out my battery after having the new one on charge for about 2 hours first before installing it to make sure the BMS would have a fresh point to start on . I didn't lose anything on my radio settings or anything else that I remember. Just don't take all day to swap it out and I would think everything will be good .

no thanks
dealer recently replaced my battery and I inquired about a bms reset.

they said it wasn’t necessary

didn‘t lose radio stations, but I did have to scroll through and “reset” my dash display screen settings

Check if your auto up & down driver's window still works. And the safety reversal for the window. It has to be reset after battery disconnect.
thanks for the advice…. auto up down is fine

must have a good tech where I get serviced
