Hey dudes/dudettes,

Going on a glamping weekend trip to Joshua Tree, CA next month.
I was thinking of buying a tent that attaches to the bed of my ‘19 Ranger.

Anyone have any experience with these?
Good? Bad? Worth it? Not worth it?
Recommendations?

Thanks!

A few folks on here have posted about their Napier truck bed tent. You might want to search “Napier” and then reply to their posts for feedback. You’ll likely have better luck getting insights.

Good luck!

The naiper bed tents work great. I also got the add-on for more room. Bought the naiper air mattress too

Thanks! Looks awesome.

Did you get the mattress direct from the website too? When I added the tent to my cart it asked if I wanted to purchase a mattress too.

Do their mattresses have the cut outs for the wheel wells? I can’t tell from the pic on the website.

No it doesn't have wheel cuts outs, but the size it should fit snuggly between them. We tried using two separate air mattresses and it didn't work so well, made for uncomfortable sleeping.

I did the Pittman, as well as the Pittman matress (which goes over the wheel wells), and I love it. This photo was from when we set it up the first time.

This is the mattress (but we got it in blue). It has an extender included (not shown) so it will go the whole length of the bed. I am 6'1, and don't seem to have an issue.

I posted this pic on the What Did You Do With Your Ranger thread, but it may be helpful here.

This was the first time with this tent, but we loved the versatility

Thanks everyone!

I ended up finding a slightly used Napier Sportz tent for $140 on OfferUp. Looking forward to using it and seeing how well it works. Still on the hunt for a mattress.

I like the Napier as well. I just use a cot in mine as it feels like less wasted space due to being able to store stuff under the cot.

This is the race weekend setup with the tri-fold tonneau cover removed from the bed and strapped to the roof rack.

If I were a single man, I could see me using something like that, I think.
Well done.

What roof rack is that, and do you like it?

It's the older (Pre-Evo) footed Thule with aero bars I had from my RS that I also had to get EU parts for since the RS used a different fit kit than the other NA Foci did. I had to order the fit kit from Europe because Thule US would not make it available in the US since the Evo feet were released before the 2019 Ranger even though the same fit kit has been used on the ROW Ranger since about 2012.

Some part number info in my WTB post: North Carolina - WTB-Thule foot kit 1665 (could be 141665) | 2019+ Ford Ranger Forum (5th Generation) - Ranger5G.com
