Changes That Improved Functionality

My most useful mod has been replacing the factory spare wheel and tire with a fifth wheel/tire/TPMS that matches the other four. All tires get used instead of carrying a rotting, rusting spare. The spare is not limited in capability or driving distance, and does not alter the driving characteristics of the truck.

I have been thinking about doing this too.... does the 5th TPMS show up automatically or did you have to modify any settings? how often do you rotate?

Rear Seat Delete (DIY) on my Scab. Lots of room for tool cases and easily converted back to stock when it comes time to sell.

These 15 tool cases fit in the back. The trim panels are protected and I can easily access the jack and spare storage compartments.

The bed is usually full of larger tools or lumber.

As far as what have I done to change mine. Tires were the first to go as I didn't trust the stock ones going off road, I wanted something more aggressive for rocky terrain and then I added a 2.5" level kit. Other than that a few small items like an armrest pad and a magnetic phone holder but the best mod was of course a damper! This with a Livernois tune added more power and the best for your buck hp/tq gains you will find out there. I feel bad for @Project Midnight because he spent a whole lot of money on mods and threw a rod when he could've just gone the safe route and still had more power than his did. ?

There are a couple of lengthy threads on this, and at least one report of an unsuccessful result. From what I have seen so far, I believe these are the facts: The truck can only see four TPMS sensors at one time. It uses a directional antenna in the cab to "read" the sensors on each of the mounted wheels. It continues to display the information stored at the last shutdown until it receives feedback from the wheel mounted at each location. If it finds a different sensor than was last stored at that location, it automatically updates to the new configuration. This takes about 2 miles of driving. The wheel in the spare tire location is not "pinged" by the computer, so it is ignored. I suspect that the success of this system may be dependent on having the same part number of OE Ford TPMS sensor on each wheel. I have not tried aftermarket, or alternate Ford part numbers.

I use a progressive tire rotation method for breaking in new tires, rotating so that each tire has occupied each position for 500 miles, then every 2,000 miles. After that, I watch the tread wear and may lengthen the interval, but never longer than 5,000 miles. I have them rebalanced every 10,000 miles. That sounds like a lot of tire rotations, but it works for me and takes about 45 minutes with a floor jack and hand tools in my own garage.

Using system and Forscan to eliminate the "added" features of sound enhancement and auto volume control, didn't realize how much "over pressure" was on my hearing just from those two items and what I was actually missing going on outside near truck...

Everyone's afraid to say it, but the tailgate damper has been one of the cheapest mods with the biggest brain polarization since Ridgeline..., not to mention the entire family enjoys it's benefit.

Sadly, the back is always full too. It’s the hardest working truck in Toronto!

btw - that’s about 900 lbs of pressure treated lumber that felt like a bed full of feathers while driving...and braking. FFR

Installing Bilstein 5100 shocks all around. Stopped the Ranger wallow. I also installed a tailgate ladder for easier access to the bed for this old body

I am really interested in hearing about this and how/why you made the choice of shocks. There are times my 2020 Ranger feels out of control on bumps in the road. It reminds me of an old car when the shocks are completely worn out. I have thought of maybe a heavier duty set of shocks. I need to figure out how to properly size them etc.

Auto folding mirrors and windows going up on lock is my favorite. Plus being able to lower all the windows and let it cool down inside before i get in in the summer is awesome too!
