Problem with cruise control button cluster on 2017 Ford Ranger XLT

I have recently encountered a problem regarding the right side buttons of the steering wheel which are the cruise control ones. They light up but don’t work. However, the left hand side buttons work flawlessly. What are the possible roots to this problem?

I do not have access to the ROW Rangers manuals, but it should be generating a code.
I cannot help much due to this being a ROW, but I would check your owner's manual and look at fuses, see if any are labeled Cruise Control
For a US Version Ranger, Possibles:
Fuse - Wiring -Steering Colum Control Module - Clockspring or Switch as possible issues with a switch having no output control.
The Lighting (Background) is a separate power source.

I would get a scanner on it and see what is being generated (codes) and go from there plus with a proper scan tool you have the ability to see live pid data, (switch outputs), to test the actual switch.
As there may be another associated fault with the Cruise Control Module itself not accepting the outputs from the switch.

The cruise control thing has happened to me a couple of times; actually, the entire switch bank on the left side of the steering wheel occasionally goes numb (cruise, screen buttons, etc). They have come back every time after shut down (what some call a hard reset)

Re: Forscan, I do not know if Forscan gets that detailed in PID's, Its great for customization of modules and reading and clearing codes.
But lacks in ease of use when you want to use it for Troubleshooting via Live Data, you have to separately select each PID to view it.

I am not sure if Forscan will show these detailed PID's

The switch PIDs are in the SCCM - Steering Colum Control Module

A3 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)

Using a diagnostic scan tool, view SCCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs). Using the table, press each cruise control switch while monitoring the cruise control switch PID . Cruise Control Switch PID Value Cruise On (pressed/released) On/Off Cruise Off (pressed/released) On/Off Resume (pressed/released) On/Off Cancel (pressed/released) On/Off SET + (pressed/released) On/Off SET - (pressed/released) On/Off

The steering wheel buttons can wear out. I replaced these same buttons on my 2005 F150 very easily.
