Putting fuel in the tank with a portable tank?

I had no problem using a portable tank to put fuel in my '06 Ranger. I had a long neck funnel with an angle up and a fine filter in the funnel. I can't get this same rig into the capless filler. C'mon now, have we advanced so far that you can't gas up without being at a gas station? This is important to me because I keep six gallons of fuel on hand for my generator at all times and change it out fresh every month. I just put the fuel in my old Ranger and refilled the portable tank. No problem. NOW it's a problem!! Doesn't anybody else ever need to put gas in their tank with a portable gas tank???

Are you using the fuel filler funnel that came with your truck?

Check where your jack is stowed.

Do you have a modern can with the stupid government mandated nozzle? Throw it out and get an EZPour nozzle. Oh, and what Duke said.

Yep, I've used mine several times. I have a 5-gallon jerrycan that I empty into my tank a few times a year. Just be careful for the backsplash, which'll happen when you pour too fast. Probably not something that you had to concern yourself with in the '06 once you got the nozzle into the filler tube, but with the funnel you've got to use a little more finesse.

I use the Ford supplied funnel to pore my extra generator gas into the truck every year so I can keep fresh gas for the generator.
