Hello all,

I purchased my used 2021 Ranger which came with a Ford tri fold hard tonneau cover on it. I tried to food the cover all the way and then use the arms to hold the cover up to maximize the bed space and it seems I’m missing something. I tried looking up the product on Ford but I can’t seem to find a schematic or whatever piece I am missing. Can someone with this cover help me out?

It looks like you are missing one prop rod and both adjuster knobs. Ford private-labels these covers from Bak Industries, I think. That looks similar to the BakFlip G2, but it could be one of several brands.

If you go to RealTruck.com (who now owns Bak and pretty much all of the major brands) and look up the current version of the cover, you may see pictures that will help you identify what's supposed to be there. In the end, though, you may be better off just replacing it.

Here's what I have on mine: https://www.ebay.com/itm/386760125209

There is also a 5' version of my cover available.

I have a simular tonneau but never tried to fold it up the last fold. I just take it off if I know I'm going to need the whole bed. I might get a topper to keep it clean.

Not sure about the tri-folds for the Ranger, but all the Bakflip style tri-folds I've seen have a rubber gasket like piece run across this surface to prevent the aluminum from contacting the trucks paint/window when fully open.
Definitely worth adding for some peace of mind!

Hope it helps!

Are sure the third folds up to the rear glass area?
I had to order a quad fold to do that function.
Some tri-folds don't flip up at the end, but his pics show that his flips vertical and any of them need to contact something to support it.
Ford hard tri-folds are typically white-label covers from Bak. Specifically, the G2.
The Bakflip covers have rubber bumpers where it contacts the cab of the truck, so I'm pretty confident in my advice.

Am I sure? No - I've long moved away from hard folding covers on my trucks because I always run a bed rack and tri/quad-folds suck with bed racks in general.
Just never seen a tri or quad fold that flips up vertical on the last fold and doesn't contact the cab/glass.

Just posting because if I can save OP a headache of scratched paint or worse just by checking if it should have foam/rubber bumpers, that's worth it in my books! 🤷‍♂️

So, I still don't see any support struts to hold the panels vertical and away from cab/back glass. Yes there has to be a foam spacer at the top as you circled in previous post.

Bill, I think you may be confused in terms of what is being discussed in this thread.
Did you look at the original post, or are you just commenting on my post with no context around the actual conversation?

Your profile pic also shows a soft tri-fold cover on your truck which has absolutely nothing in common with the cover being discussed.

Original post which clearly shows a hard, tr-fold cover that flips up to the cab with support rods to hold it open is quoted below for you.
This is what is being discussed.

Funny
I take about 6-8 rods out per short trips.
my wife has 6 rod setups mostly spinning
I have 10 baitcasters and 4 spinning.
Kinda like a golfer and his clubs.
different action and line sizes.

We're saying the same thing Bill.

His very first post has a picture showing the "strut" that holds the cover up.
Here's the original picture he posted.
