Some decals will peel right off on a warm day, glue and all. It can vary, of course.

When I custom ordered mine last year, I made it clear in writing that there were to be no dealer decal applied or license plate frame installed. I had already read stories about license plate frames being tall enough to rub against the tailgate when it was lowered.
Way back when, I took the advice of Dave, The Duke of Dampers, to use a hair dryer to peel off the decals on my Ranger. The "FX4" stickers on both sides of the bed came right off, no residue, no damage, no issues at all. But now I know that I don't even have to do that: next time around, I will make it clear when ordering that there is no be no free advertising on my Ranger!

The very first thing I do when I get a new (or new to me) vehicle home and in the garage is to remove the dealership sticker or license plate frame. I'm not advertising for anyone! The sticker on my tailgate peeled off although it was one of those where each letter was its own sticker. When done I took some Goo Gone and cleaned it up.

Zippo (or Ronson) lighter fluid is my go-to for cleaning anything rubber, plastic or painted, if water doesn’t work.

it’s safe for most things. Don’t use “denatured” alcohol or methanol. They have something in them that damages paint and plastic. Isopropyl (rubbing alxohol) is usually safe, but it can damage some plastics.

Zippp is cheap, and it lasts a long time. The tiny nozzle makes it easy to use just enough to get the job done, and the airtight can keeps it from evaporating in storage.

The more I deal with people now a day the less faith I have theirs intelligent life out there. :bandit:
So they are on Arizona too. I though we cornered the market for idiots in my area of N.C. I'm convinced that an alien spaceship came down, dropped off all of their idiots, and they ain't comin' back to get 'em.

Ho-ho-hold it right there for a second Marc!

Did you say “the Duke of Dampers”?

Just so there’s no confusion out there, when it comes to Dampers, there’s definitely no Duke. ?

When i bought my last car (2012 focus, sport package, leather interior), I drove 2 hours to the dealer to buy it. They told me it was not onsite yet (I had a dealer/ford employee associated with a forum help me find the model, trim, color, etc.). It was in their receiving lot (saw as i was leaving).

I drove 4 extra hours the next day to have them remove some stickers on the interior and wheels, and apply a dealer sticker. I peeled it off and think i used isopropyl alcohol, followed by rinse with water. No wear or damage for the 9 years i had the car as a result.

Something about having to drive 4 hours so they could apply their sticker still rubs me the wrong way. The dealer was also trying to "neg" me I think, even though pricing and everything else was agreed upon via costco pricing.

Amazingly enough, the best stuff I've ever used to remove glue residue is PB Blaster.

When someone told me about it I was very skeptical but doggone if it doesn't work terrific.

It's also great at removing paint pen from a junkyard part without damaging the actual paint.

I don't think a dealer sticker/badge/logo has ever lasted more than 1 hour after getting my vehicle home.

At least now it's mostly stickers.

There used to be a dealer in the Atlanta area that was infamous for their dealer logo: a huge 4 leaf clover that was silk screen painted on the vehicles. It looked horrendous.

No goof off, and no hair dryer.

They are both bad for paint.

If you want to remove stickers or badges and would like to add heat on order to aid your efforts, this is your best friend.

The steam will protect your paint from drying out and overheating.

I've had my wallpaper steamer over 20 years. It's seen a lot of vehicles, but no wallpaper.

Clothes steamers work well too.
I'll order one of these right away to romove the one sticker

Dennis, remember the old dealer emblems? They were metal and usually drilled into the front face of the trunk, they were pretty larger too.

Yeah my dealer stickers are like that also, took me a bit to get them all off. They got lots of letters in name as well as Lincoln and Mazda on each letters.

I also removed the dealer labeled frames.
