Who's Ordering a 2020 Ranger? What Changes Will It Get?

Just ordered a 2020 4x2 Lariat SuperCrew, 501A, Saber, Sport, E Lock Rear Diff, Trailer Tow, Stone/Black Interior, Priority Code 19

Base 4x2 SuperCrew went from $34,565 to $34,675 MSRP.

501A went from $1795 to $2005 MSRP. Looks like Ford felt demand for the 501A package was strong enough to support the $210 increase. There were no other option price increases.

I’m hoping for a March 1, 2020 delivery. Anyone want to establish odds on before / after?

No FX2 package? It is just $200 more than the Rear locker

I thought about the FX2 package but decided against it, only because I have no need for the off-road suspension modifications and off-road tires.

My truck will be strictly a street-highway queen that will occasionally haul or tow materials for house or yard.

If anyone thinks the suspension changes / tires will make for an overall better ride experience, give me your 2-cents and I might reconsider.

You will have a better ride w/o FX package

Is that an estimate they told you? If they start building in mid-November, I don’t understand why it would take so long.

Only when ā€œOk to Buyā€ has been achieved will retail orders be built. So even though Job #1 starts in November, retail orders will be delayed for several weeks until that has been achieved.

I would keep your expectations in check, since for the 2019 MY, most retail orders didn’t start getting built until late December or January.

I see. I saw your previous comment last week but I wasn’t sure how ā€œokay to buyā€ works. I am glad I plunged on the 2019 last week.

Yeah, I get the argument, but Ford has already shown they don’t really give a care about it. They have Ecoboosts in nearly every vehicle they have as standard or an option - they’re only going to continue that trend. They are definitely committed and I can’t blame them, they’ve put out a great product; I’ve had an Ecoboost since 2013 and have had zero complaints.

Ford is definitely committed to Turbo-charged, hybrid, and even all-electric motors, and so I would not count on any naturally aspirated motor of any size coming to the Ranger, except possibly as part of a hybridized drive train (like that offered for the 2020 Explorer). That being said, even though the 2019 Ranger does not lack for horsepower and certainly not for torque, and I love the current drive train, I would upgrade, if not in 2020 then maybe by 2023, if Ford offers us the choice of a 2.7 Turbo-charged motor for the Ranger.

For me it would have to be some pretty compelling upgrades in 2023 in order for me to trade my 2019 in. While there are a few things that could certainly be improved, it is a REALLY, REALLY good truck, IMO. A Raptor on the other hand, might make me think twice about upgrading... :) It will be very interesting to see what the redesigned Ranger actually ends up being.

both the Hybrid powertrain (which really doesn’t bring any advantages since Ford said it tuned it for ā€˜performance’....which is a weird approach to me since I’d expect more mpg than more performance out of a hybrid, but that’s me...) and the 2.7 don’t fit in the Ranger...

Ford is redesigning the Ranger and a new one could come out in 2021-2022...

No, in my ā€œadvanced ageā€ I’ve come to take a sales associate’s word with a grain of salt. This is just my personal estimate based on my planning and what I’ve learned on this site since joining this past January.

I do think deliveries will be a bit more timely in early 2020 than they have been for many in 2019.
