if doing the slip yoke you will need either the boot kit AB3Z-4421-A or at least the crimp clamps for the boot, as for grease the cool kids .....use XG-8 PTFE LUBE ...

I've had some marine grease that I have previously had for slip yokes, but I'm not sure if I have it anymore. If I don't, I'll pick up the grease you mention.

I figure I'd start a "build" page here since despite my best efforts, I am adding more to this truck than the adult in me knows better than doing....

I've had my truck for 6 months now, which is a 2022 XL STX Supercab in Cactus Gray. I bought this truck to replace my Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD for daily and tow duties (which had replaced my 2001.5 Cummins), however, it hasn't completely worked out that way. I've continued to use the Jeep because it keeps kicking along, now at 240k miles, towing cars, SxS's, and more recently a tractor, regularly, as well as pulling trees down and stumps out of the ground... It appears I'm comfortable with the damn thing. That said, the truck hasn't seen a lot of use mostly because the dirty work I am doing is easier for me when it's not a new vehicle. :)

Ultimately, this will be a street and tow truck. Since I can't leave anything alone, I will still modify the truck and track it here!

Getting on, here are pictures the day I picked it up from Granger, in Iowa after a 6 month wait:

Almost home:

1677645108169.png

Home (we moved into this house weeks prior):

1677645180069.png

The RZR actually matches pretty well :)

1677645192800.png

First part I added, I don't have a picture of... The ignition key trim seemed like a must. I got plain black... But right after that, I had the bed coated in Line-X Premium (and a damper... <insertstupiddamperjokehere>):

1677645301432.png

And added the Ford toolbox. It was like $12 with my Ford points:

1677645342421.png

Next was a Bakflip cover:

1677646694047.png

I'm getting older, so I wanted to see if the engine cover helped with noise reduction. It does enough to make me not regret the purchase and I got it before the price hike.

1677645527575.png

After driving it a bit, my wife struggled to get in and out of the truck, so even though I don't like the look of runner boards, I picked up some of the slimmest ones I could after some research on these forum. Amazon to the rescue:

1677645621702.png

Now to some of the more interesting parts. Before I even had the truck, I had already purchased Morimoto headlights, Diode Dynamics fog lights, and a Mountune intercooler.

1677647722409.png

Removal of the stockers:

1677645812402.png

Morimoto's installed... Also put in red tow hooks so I could use an actual FX4 skip plate:

1677645883982.png

Diode Dynamics fog lights installed w/ fresh clear bra:

1677645979415.png

1677645898301.png

I'll have to do an alignment and get some better shots, but a quick alignment with tape from the stock halogens:

1677646042111.png

I have also replaced the license plate lights and side markers with LED's (I'll do the high mount lights when I do the brake controller):

1677646747339.png

Mountune intercooler installed. I did have to purchase a few things to make this an nicer install. I purchased some expandable 1.5" foam tape for the bottom of the intercooler (like stock), longer screws for the upper plastic shroud, and PROPER T-bolt clamps. They include crappy worm-gear clamps... This is where I currently am, waiting on the clamps to arrive. I have no plans to do an intake or exhaust. The intake bang-for-buck is very low and I don't want any noise from an exhaust... I've never really liked loud cars, as even my toy and track cars are all pretty quiet.

1677646189907.png

Prior to these parts and immediately after hitting 1,000 miles (just to make sure everything works as it should), I did start taking logs as well as did some transmission tuning. I could not stand the lugging of constant too high of a gear, and I wanted to firm up the shifts a bit. I have only tuned the transmission at this point:

1677646857782.png

1677646838227.png

Before/After WOT shifting:

1677646925316.png

That catches it up pretty well so far. I still have a pretty good bin of parts to install, so I will keep it all updated here.
That's a nice S2K man! Looks like you put some work into it, what have you got done to it?

Thanks. Funny enough, I'm troubleshooting a random misfire on it right now. Not sure if it was bad fuel, injectors finally needing cleaning after sitting multiple times at very long intervals with E85, coils, etc. I have removed the injector PnP harnesses and crimped in the proper connector yesterday and new plugs today, though the plugs I pulled out looked fantastic.

It's in the middle of a change right now as I just removed the soft top and added a roll bar, harness, etc. I wrapped the hood awhile back when I cut the holes for the vents, so I need to go back and wrap the rest of the car (it sat a lot when I lived in Denver). I love the color it is, but track time with Hoosiers and fast groups really beat it up and I figured wrap is replaceable.

What does it have done... Cliffs...EFR 7064 turbo (twin scroll, paired cylinder manifold), E85, V-mount, aero, brakes, and all the things to keep a track car running. I currently have an AEM EMS v2 in as the ECU, but I have a Haltech Elite 1500 here that I am tempted to swap in and retune as it's got some additional features I think I would like having.

It hasn't been washed in 2 years, but it's still in really good condition once I wash it and buff it out. It just hit 39k miles recently.

My track tune is 8 PSI flat and an awesome torque shelf:

1688164586014.png

My last track day in this car was with only 4.5ish PSI and it was a blast to drive:

I was actually in Denver a couple weeks ago tuning this for the 3rd time. He got another turbo upgrade and this thing is nuts. It made 557whp and weighs like 2,400 lbs.

Nothing too new as I don't drive it much due to having like 7 vehicles. I did finally tow with it this week and it made me go back and adjust the transmission tune on the tow button. I did not like the OEM behavior, especially when after making a turn and going up hill, it was in 3rd gear when it really should have been in 2nd. I also thought it should downshift sooner, overall.

Anytime I think the truck is 'small' for todays vehicles, I get reminded by my mom's truck, which I've been holding the last year as she travels out looking at properly/houses so they can move out my way. This truck was our family vehicle, purchased new in 1985 and now has 262k miles. It's mostly original, but it was repainted 20 years ago due to fading. The interior is in near new condition.

Even my wife's Maverick is bigger. :)

1713929619540-r0.jpg

I also appear to like small convertible sports cars... I bought a 2007 Saturn Sky at the end of last year, with 9k miles on it.

Those Taurus SHO's were definitely special. I had a '98 SHO with the v8, just an all around fun car. Though I'll never forget the faces people made when they heard it rumble by. WTF, Its a Taurus?? 🤣 🤣

I also recently did my second oil change. I took a sample that I need to send off to compare to the first sample of the factory fill. I also switched over to Motul 300v 5w40 on this change. I'll sample this at changes as well.

They were really fun in their day. I still have a soft spot for the gen 1/2 SHO's.

I changed my oil pretty early on mileage as I wanted to clean out the break-in junk as well as see how bad this oil shears... The contents/contaminates in the oil are what I expected, but I was a little surprised (although not) to see it already shear to a 20 weight in 2,300 miles.

I put in the OEM oil with and FL-400 filter and plan to only run it about 2,000-2,500 miles. After that, I am switching over to Motul 300v, 5w40. I will continue sampling.

No fuel detected!

1688146274081.png

Other than that, I've made a few changes to my transmission tuning and it just drives proper now. I also have seen, by going back to the OEM tune and then back to my tune for extended periods, my MPG's go up on my map. I have not touched the engine tuning yet, but that is coming soon as I plan to know that out with tuning on the Ford Maverick we have scheduled to be built in a few weeks.

I do think my slip yoke will need pulled and lubed. I get the slight bump/clunking when slowing down and taking off. My Cummins had this problem, but after like 120k miles...
Is that the correct oil filter, I thought is was a FL910
