Steve, thank you. Wonder how long that “O” ring will last. Will be interested on install and follow up, especially since we both tow a lot.

Yeah, it is a very small diameter O ring. If push comes to shove, don't see why the OE gasket couldn't be re-used on it in place of the O ring. From what I've read the OE gasket can be reused, and if the O ring is removed, the gasket should seat with the new pan.
Have to wait till I remove old pan and see which I feel more comfortable with.

Rock auto lists 2 filters from motorcraft FT215 and a FT202.
wonder if there was a flaw in that filter and they fixed it. Anyone get one from ford? What was the part number?
Grump you order the filter yet?

I got the FT-202....apparently a new # that supersedes the old one.
Of course, that means the price went up from the $45 ish/$55 ish of the old one to $101.00 for the new (suggest retail). My Ford dealer/parts doesn't even carry the FT-215 anymore.
My local O'Reillys ordered one for me for $59....be here today.
Same filter so I don't know what the difference is in the "new" filter.

Personal opinion, but I would replace the little grommet that seals the filter to the pump intake. It is all of $3. They say it is reusable, but for $3 I just replace it. With the heat and exposure it gets I don't want it getting hard over the years and not sealing.

This little thing, don't know the part number offhand:

When I went to my Ford parts he told me they don't even carry the FT-215 anymore,
The companies that still offer them are probably old stock.
I saw the price on Rock Auto, but with the shipping, it was just a few $$$ less than O'Reillys...
and O'Reillys will have it today.

Well, guess I'm the first to get it delivered...came just a few minutes ago.
Real nice, no flaws in the casting. Even supply new stud bolts for those who need them, and a full size layout where they go and torque values.
Got my fluid and will order a new filter.
At just over 19,000 miles, and will do the swap around 20,000 miles.

Do you know if this will fit my FX4 with the skid plate?

Honestly....don't know. My Lariat is a 2 wheel drive...no skid plate.
Maybe someone else who has installed one on a 4x4 with skid plate will chime in.

I don’t believe the Fx4 skids even cover the trans pan. And the pan is plastic that’s why I upgraded to ARB skids. So I don’t think the pan will be an issue with fx4 skids. The skids on left are Fx4 there is another skid that’s missing in picture but it only covers transfer case. The sids on right are ARB and the bottom one covers transmission.

I was about to swap out my pan to PPE yesterday and watched YouTube video learned about little seal. Figured I’d order it’s cheap and I’m there might as well do it right the first time. Maybe this is why some are having issues after replacing filter and fluid.
